PureApplication System and Bluemix Local System 2.2.2.x come with the DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern version 1.2.4.2, as documented in System maintenance and integrated components in PureApplication System Version 2.2.2.1. Most of you are probably familiar with this pattern, which enables fast and easy deployment of DB2 10.5 and is also used by a number of other patterns. Typically IBM installs the corresponding pattern type that contains the DB2 pattern. However since today, this pattern type can now also be downloaded directly from IBM Fix Central here. Please refer to this previous blog post for more details on how to install this pattern. This post also includes a handy link that takes you straight to all versions of the DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern available from IBM Fix Central.
For reference, this version of the pattern type delivers a fix for APAR IT16492, which is also mentioned in System maintenance and integrated components in PureApplication System Version 2.2.2.1. What’s perhaps even more important is that the DB2 software component no longer always install the TSM client binaries. With previous versions of the pattern type, this was always done. However with this version, the TSM client binaries are only installed when the tsmclient System Plug-In has been fully configured (under Catalog > System Plug-Ins).
